A Proposal Report on Data Security in Big Data

For Project 2- Literature Review- attached in the file, we wrote about Big Data and how it applied to mathematics and computer science as well as business. One of the biggest problems with Big Data and the large amount of data generated is information security. So much goes in to collecting and processing data that the information that is extracted has a lot of value. As such, that information becomes an incredibly valuable target for theft. In an era where data is essentially a commodity, able to be collected and monetized, the computer science and business disciplines have different approaches and problems when it comes to the topic of privacy and security. However, the issue essentially boils down to one simple statement – that consumers today don’t have the privacy or security they should when it comes to data mining and practices employed by corporations today. Our project 3 will focus on how computer science and business can come together in different ways to solve the shared issue of data security. From a computer science standpoint, focused on the advanced techniques that can be employed to prevent data loss and stop attacks before they happen. From the business standpoint, to address the types of data being collected and taking a step back to evaluate what they should and shouldn’t be allowed to collect.

80% portion of paper should focus on Computer Science standpoint on the Data Security

write a proposal report on Data Security in Big Data.

Requirement.

Since you have already collaborated with a partner to identify a problem or issue that can be addressed across your two disciplines, you will continue working with this partner for Project 3.  I also hope you have the added benefit of the experience of working together and can now bring that experience to bear with this new challenge.

You may use the same problem you addressed in the literature review, revise that problem, or choose a new one. Unless you think the problem you addressed in the literature review is not workable in P3, I strongly encourage you to continue dealing with the same (but refined) problem.  This way the literature review provides the background knowledge you need to understand each discipline’s approach to the problem, enabling you to move forward efficiently in this project to propose solutions to the problem.

The primary component of this project is the 3-4 pages, single-spaced Proposal Report.  In this report you (and your partner) will describe the problem, its background and support in the research literature, your methods for solving the problem and why you chose those methods, any limitations of your proposed solution, and the implications of your proposed solution.

Further thoughts on the Proposal Report

Project 3 is best understood and approached as an extension of Project 2 in the sense that P2 essentially said, here’s a review of some literature from disciplines X and Y regarding problem A and this review reveals how each discipline writes, and thereby thinks about, the problem. In Project 3 you take what you learned from P2 and say, given that discipline X offers these insights on problem A and discipline Y offers other insights on problem A, why not blend disciplinary insights and approaches for new research and solutions for problem A?  You are proposing a hypothetical solution that draws upon the methods and findings of both disciplines.  Ideally, this solution will be a hybrid of your two disciplines. You, of course, will not actually test the proposal; instead, you propose new ideas using transdisciplinary approaches to solve (or partially solve) the problem.  Arriving at this transdisciplinary solution is the challenge of Project 3.
