There are many advantages to the commercial package including the data process, imaging, hashing , and wiping.I think the most important aspect of using the materials you have for your job is knowing how to use them.Any tool can be used but if you don’t know how to apply them they are no good to you.So your advantages are the more advanced equipment you have to do your job with.The disadvantage is the knowledge of using the tools you have been given.
There are programs that you put on devices that retain every piece of information on a hard drive.The process in collecting and retaining digital evidence is very important because one mistake could mess everything up.They could have some kind of backup program that allows them to retain information in case something happens to the original.
