healthcare training management system in corona pandemic at saudi arabia

During the pandemic of coronavirus that occurred in Dec 2019 has exponentially spread across the world and still complaining from its effect until the time of doing of this research, the implementation of the strict nationwide lockdown and safety measures which the organizations and individuals have to follow nation and government guidance as emergency response with MOH and WHO instructions. Moreover, the consequences that impact economics, society, and either affects people’s lifestyle (Singh, Bandewar & Bukusi, 2020).

A management system is a way in which an organization manages the interrelated parts of its business in order to achieve its objectives. These objectives can relate to a number of different topics, including product or service quality, operational efficiency, environmental performance, health and safety in the workplace, and many more (ISO, n.d.).

The level of complexity of the system will depend on each organization’s specific context. For some organizations, especially smaller ones, it may simply mean having strong leadership from the business owner, providing a clear definition of what is expected from each individual employee and how they contribute to the organization’s overall objectives, without the need for extensive documentation. More complex businesses operating, for example, in highly regulated sectors, may need extensive documentation and controls in order to fulfill their legal obligations and meet their organizational objectives (ISO, n.d).

Training Management System (TMS) is a systematic framework designed to manage an organization’s policies, procedures, and processes, which promote continual improvement within an organization (ISO, n.d). A Training Management System or TMS is a system that organizes training curriculums, schedules, training delivery, grading, records, and history. Types of training delivered include eLearning, online, computer-based, classroom, or simulator learning environments (Donahey, 2017).

A Training Management System is designed to be the central point of your entire training operation. It will give you the ability to manage all the aspects of your business from the system, as well as enable you to integrate all your other favorite tools into the system. In this way, you can have complete oversight of your entire training business without having to switch between lots of different tools and systems (Morrison, 2019).

Training Management System (TMS) one of the schemes that are affected by this pandemic and needed to rapidly adapt due to the increasing number of inpatient cases while being mindful of protecting providers and continuing education (Agarwal et al., 2020).

The implementation of a proven and effective TMS can help organizations to improve operations, manage risk and promote stakeholder confidence. TMS is also used to improve and enhance individual and organizational effectiveness and position of the organizations for continued sustainable growth.  It helps build sustainably successful organizations with proven tools and methods (Serrat, 2017).

Limited studies were found that aimed to examine the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on TMS within healthcare organizations and the impact of training management on healthcare providers in Saudi Arabia. We recognize that despite many efforts were made, and there remain real disruptions to the training system. We also recognize that there may be continued future disruptions depending on the time course of this pandemic. For that, the management system needs to continue to carefully evaluate every step of the training system process and try to remain flexible in this ever-changing environment while maintaining high standards (Daniel, 2020).

The aim of this study is to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic at the Training Management System (TMS)  in the healthcare organizations in Saudi Arabia. To fulfill this aim, the specific objectives will be to:

·       Examine the impact of the novel Corona Pandemic on TMS.

·       Identify the changes made to the TMS program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

·       Determine the plan for future TMS in order to overcome the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and the ensuing lockdown has posed several challenges for the organization and put more pressure on the healthcare organizations that challenge come from trying to treat the sick people and keep them safe from getting infected by this unfamiliar virus since there is no clear guideline for preventing getting infected (Singh, Bandewar & Bukusi, 2020). Also, it was a challenging and stressful time for the organization, the healthcare workers to keep up to the high standards of competencies (Daniel, 2020).

Various organizations have changed their way for the implementation and continuation of medical education for employees, medical students, including fellowship- internship, and residency programs. But to keep the high performance for the skills and practices protecting the workers while also ensuring the well-being and competency (Goh & Sandars, 2020).

The safety and overall well-being of the medical staff also need to be addressed. This goes beyond simply providing adequate personal protective equipment and social distance.  The organization will make every attempt to allow physicians to focus on the needs of their community and minimize the impact on the continuous/medical education and processes. We are committed to flexibility in all our programs because we fight through the challenges ahead (Goh & Sandars, 2020).

Another important issue is the resource constraints in the organization as reflect of the economic impact of this pandemic and try to contaminate the spread of the virus and utilization of the resources (OECD, 2020).

Without proper protocols in place, the increasing demands of COVID-19 would hinder the capacity of the organization to address the need to maintain a high standard of management for all systems, especially the continuous education and training (OECD, 2020).

Resource allocation needs to be carefully considered to provide the best possible level of training to the healthcare employees to make the efficiency and effectiveness of training (Alsoufi et al., 2020). The management system should significantly support innovative approaches across the profession to maintain the educational process and content (Woolliscroft, 2020).
