Researching Strategy Options
Conducting research to satisfy a particular request can be overwhelming if you are inexperienced. Over time, it is common to develop a systematic approach to research and thus become an academic researcher. In Week 1, you read a hypothetical case and imagined you were a newly promoted Information Technology Vice President who took several requests from fictitious business executives. During Weeks 2–6, you researched the various requests from these business executives to help them develop their strategies. This week, you will discuss your experience researching the information requested.
To prepare for this Discussion, evaluate the role of research and its applicability to this course and to the workplace.
By Day 3
Post your assessment of your research and fact-finding experience related to the fictitious business executives’ requests, as well as its real-world applicability. In your assessment, answer the following questions:
- What was the most challenging research topic and why?
- What steps did you take to overcome the challenge?
- What tips can you provide to prevent others from having this challenge?
- What is the role of research and how will you apply your research experience to your workplace and/or personal endeavors?
Be sure to support your work with a minimum of two specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and one or more additional scholarly sources.
