sociological imagination. If you see how an older individual's situation of economic
disadvantage is a result of human strengths instead of personal choice or chance, you are
applying the sociological imagination. The sociological imagination empowers us to look at
the world in ways that highlight how particular occasions in our lives formed by large-scale
social strengths or social realities.
