ENG Essay

Write an opinion essay discussing the evolving perception and/or depiction of vampires in literature and film/television productions and how that evolution may change in the future. Some questions the student might consider: Is there anything new that can be done in vampire lit/film? Has the vampire been “done to death”? In what ways have the changes in these portrayals been good or bad, especially for young adult readers? The direction of the essay is up to the individual student, but the paper must include no less than three (3) original sources beyond the required reading for the course. The paper must be in proper APA format, and the required length is between 1000 – 2000 words.

ENG 125 Introduction to Literature DQ 2 Week 2

Character Analysis and Setting

Prepare: Prior to beginning your initial post, read Chapters 4 through 7 of Journey into Literature.

Reflect: In the stories you have read in Chapters 4 through 7, you have been introduced to several kinds of characters. Select another story from your textbook that is different than the one you analyzed in the “Literary Techniques and Their Connection to Conflict in Literature” discussion and identify and consider a character you sympathize with. Reflect on why you identify with them and how that character is constructed by the author.

Write: Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. The minimum word count does not include references. Make sure to answer all questions!

As you write your post, answer the following questions:

  • Identify the character and the literary work he or she appears in.
  • Why did this character interest you? What choices does the character make, and how do the choices (or the result of the choices) contribute to the theme of the story?
  • What kind of conflict (internal/external) did this character encounter, and how did he or she handle it?
  • How does the setting contribute to the character’s development?
  • How does the setting contribute to the character’s experience and give the story more meaning?
  • Incorporate readings found in Chapters 4 through 7 to help illustrate the points you make.

MAKE sure to refer to the TEXT.

Task description

Select an event for evaluation in Assignment Three. The event must be either cultural, sporting, or business. The event must be held after April 26th and before May 20th.

It should be a local event held within the region of the student’s current residence. A mega-event cannot be selected for this assessment task. You must attend the event.

Using report format and style:

  • describe the event – type of event, name, date, conducting organisation, its program, location, duration, the intended audience for the event – numbers, demographics.
  • describe the purpose, aims and objectives of the event in measurable terms
  • discuss the possible impacts the event will have on the local community in which it is being held – economic, social and environmental
  • describe, justify and explain:
    • the process you will use to assess/evaluate the event organisation’s success in achieving aims & objectives in order to complete Assignment 3.
    • the process you will use to assess/evaluate the event’s impacts on the host community in order to complete Assignment 3.

VERY IMPORTANT – Some events will not be suitable for the case study. In particular, events that are regularly held – monthly or weekly markets, a pub or club show, sporting contests, etc. are not acceptable. Performances that are part of recurring presentations in a theatre or performing arts space, are also not acceptable. However, if the event is held for an infrequent special purpose, it may be acceptable. For example, a band playing at a pub as part of the pubs usual entertainment program is not acceptable, but the same band playing at the same pub to raise money for, and draw attention to, a local charity, is acceptable. If the event is regarded by your tutor as unsuitable you will be asked to resubmit with another event choice. Late submission penalties will be applied. Check your event choice with your tutor well before you commence the assignment to avoid this outcome.
