What are other possible solution/options to address the obesity problem in this country?

In an effort to target the obesity epidemic in this country, Mayor Bloomberg has pushed to limit soda size in restaurants, fast-food joints, delis, movie theaters, sports stadiums, and food carts in New York City (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/13/new-york-approves-soda-ban-big-sugary-drinks_n_1880868.html).
Share your thoughts on this soda ban. Do you think it will be effective in fighting obesity? Do you think the government should be stepping in to address the problem? Since over two-thirds of the US population is currently overweight or obese, we obviously need some kind of help to address this problem. What are other possible solution/options to address the obesity problem in this country?
