Write a historiography essay about Abraham Lincoln. Examine how other historians have treated Abraham Lincoln and that person’s contributions to America’s past.
Go to the Empire State College library and find at least three scholarly, peer-reviewed essays about the individual you have been studying and/or that person’s contributions.
Make sure to select essays that were written by different people.
Read the essays carefully,
Use Rampolla’s discussion of how to think like a historian in chapter 4 (pp. 54-55).
Prepare an analytical essay on how these particular authors have viewed the individual and/or contributions you have been studying.
Use Rampolla’s guidelines for historiography essays as well as those for writing comparative papers (pp. 35-37).
Be sure that your essay evaluates the prevailing assumptions of how the history of America’s founding has been told and the place of the individual you are researching within the historical record.
Your essay should be approximately 1,000 words in length, and it should follow the protocols for citation that Rampolla outlines in chapter 7.
