The authors claim that until you change the way that project work is planned and executed, an organization cannot really know what to do about its resources. Explain what you believe the authors’ logic to be.

If you are going to create a resource pool (skills description and quantities of people available), the authors suggest you limit the number of different skill sets modeled in projects. Why shouldn’t you create a resource pool for the entire organization (assuming that the time it takes to create such a definition is not the issue)?

Assume you are talking to a resource manager. Explain why that manager, looking at a histogram produced by software, should consider 67% to indicate a fully utilized resource skill set.

Paper 2 – Idealism or Realism in Photography

4-5 Page Essay (approximately 1,000-1,250 words), not including the image attachments at the end

of the document or the Works Cited page.

Anonymous “Is Photography a New Art?”

Berenice Abbott “Photography at the Crossroads”

John Berger “Understanding a Photograph”

Walker Evans “The Reappearance of Photography”

Sigfried Kracauer “Photography”

Henry Peach Robinson “Idealism, Realism, Expressionism”

Susan Sontag “In Plato’s Cave”

Alfred Stieglitz “Pictorial Photography”

Over the course of the semester we have read a number of essays which consider the nature of

photographic representation. Some of these writers have either mentioned or argued in favor of a form

of idealism in which the camera aspires to greater heights of artistic representation, while others prefer

the medium to capture the natural world and convey a more documentary approach to viewers via

realism. Considering one of these two positions, either “idealism” or “realism,” write an argumentative

paper based on 2-3 of the essays listed above from our course readings.

In this essay, you will first summarize a position based on citations from these authors in order to

determine your own informed position on what either “idealism” or “realism” means in terms of

photography. Consider how we have constructed They Say / I Say arguments in class as well as in your

own writing responses and close reading of these texts. So, your first step is to skillfully summarize and

establish for your reader what some of these authors have said about the term you selected. Second,

given that these writers contemplate a form of visual representation prior to the digital age of

photography, you will dedicate half of your essay to exploring what “idealism” or “realism” means in

terms of the medium today. Respond to what these thinkers have said about photography in the past

with your own informed approach in the present. For both aspects of your paper, be sure to include a

total of 2-4 photographs as evidence to support your claims.

As a reminder, this paper should demonstrate a complete argument which includes a title that reflects the

content of your essay, as well as supporting paragraphs and a conclusion

Don’t compare those two. Just write about the Realism of the photography. Need cite one or two sentences of the following article:

(a) Compute the exponentially smoothed forecast of calls for each week. Assume an initial forecast of 50 calls in the first week, and use α = .2. What is the forecast for week 25?
(b) Reforecast each period using α = .6.
(c) Actual calls during week 25 were 85. Which smoothing constant provides a superior forecast? Explain and justify the measure of error youused.
